From Flag Day to UAE National Day: Dubai Announces One Month of Celebrations

On Wednesday, the government revealed that Dubai has released a new campaign to mark several national holidays in the UAE.

The campaign has been rolled out in conjunction with 16 government, semi-government, and private sector stakeholders and falls in line with the UAE Flag Day and the 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebration. From November the 3rd this campaign will go on up to the 3rd of December.

Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media most certainly could not agree more, said that the campaign was to pay tribute to the country’s founders, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Fireworks

On December 2nd and 3rd, dazzling shows, and fireworks will be set off at places like JBR Beach, Al Seef, Hatta, and Dubai Festival City Mall. People can also proceed to Hatta to watch fireworks displays, traditional dances, and music shows.

People can watch fireworks every day of the campaign in Dubai Global Village.

Seasonal markets

Seasonal markets such as Beach Canteen, Ripe Market, and Winter Wonderland will also be participating in the events with Emirati-themed activities, food, and shopping.

There will also be a ‘Union Day Parade,’ in collaboration with Watani Al Emarat on December 2 at City Walk. This lively and vibrant event will therefore endeavor to showcase most aspects of Emirati culture in the form of dances and performances that are similar to carnival.

Special Events at Museums

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, known as Dubai Culture, will organize events in such cultural locations and installations as the Hatta Heritage Village to invite people and educate them on the history of the region. The Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood will include various activities capturing Dubai’s cultural identity.

At Al Shindagha Museum translating a cultural location from an old city oasis to the contemporary UAE’s largest open-air heritage museum; people will be able to immerse themselves in the structure in its heritage form and its relation to the contemporary society today. Heritage houses in the museum will be revitalized through theatrical and interactive performances that bring the flavor of old Dubai to the forefront. The events will comprise conventional and unique activities that elaborate on the progress of the UAE.

An important and recognized national symbol, the Museum of Etihad, will hold special ceremonies for the GA on the topic of the history of the formation of the Union of the UAE. The museum shall launch other cultural activities that will comprise of display and educational features of the UAE’s formation.

Concert at Expo City

The Eid Al Etihad Eid celebration activities for Expo City Dubai will feature a musical concert, known as the ‘Union Symphony’, with the ‘Firdaus Orchestra’.

Two free outdoor concerts will present a program of Emirati national songs to be performed by the orchestra. The Al Wasl Plaza at Expo City will be holding UAE flags and traditional Emirati aesthetics with Emirati traditional performers showcasing traditional Emirati performances.

Al Wasl Plaza will also be quarterly occupied by the Emirati Harvest, an organic producer-only market focusing on agriculture and food production in the UAE.

Light shows at parks

Part of the landmarks to be decorated during Eid Al Etihad include major parks, Dubai Frame, Dubai Safari Park, and Clock Tower roundabout all of which will be lit up by the Municipality.

Festivities at Dubai airports

Another official Eid Al Etihad shall be conducted at a dedicated area at Dubai airports, with consideration going towards the maritime theme that will be used to theme the occasion. Arriving at the entry points of Dubai, people will hear traditional national songs which will also reflect the specific features of these celebrations.
